Good Looking Loser’s
Guide to Accessories
From: Good Looking Loser
Spring 2013
Commentary by Taylor Stephani-Michaels and Lindsey Dale ♥
Accessories are kind of a big deal.
I personally feel naked without them.
They can instantly add a dose of status and edge (masculinity) to your look.
Although less fashionable undersexed guys accuse stylish guys of being “followers” or “gay” for wearing accessories, the reality is – the vast majority of guys do not wear accessories. The ones that do- just stand out. And That’s the point.
If you are going to “dress like you are a somebody, not a nobody,” or dress to “stand out, not fit in,” it is almost mandatory that you have some accessories.
You don’t need to dress like a peacocking clown- you just need items that reflect that you “get it” and you probably get more action and have more money and resources than Mr. generic standing next to you.
For guys that look young- they are particularly a must. “Kid in T-Shirt” doesn’t usually fly with hot girls.
I rarely meet a “t-shirt and jeans guy” that gets a lot of top-shelf women outside of his social circles.
Unless they are tall and really good looking, they just become part of the blur of undersexed men who dress alike and can’t relate with hot girls. These guys take pride in “being themselves,” an undersexed guy that is scared to stand out.
I’d prefer to be perceived as a douchebag than one of those guys.
I don’t dress like Mr. Normal because I’m NOT Mr. Normal.
I encourage you to follow a similar mindset.
If you read this website, I’m sure you are well on your way.
There are actually a lot of options for accessories. You only need a few.
In my opinion- you are better off buying 1 or 2 more expensive accessories than getting a lot of cheap garbage. There are some accessories that can be had for cheap and still looks good. We’ll cover some of those below.
♥ While their expertise is women’s fashion, both Taylor and Lindsey D. have experience styling male celebrities for red-carpet events.
While it’s unnecessary and overly expensive to rock a “high-fashion” look, both girls tracked down numerous affordable accessories that will make an impact for just about any guy.
After hours of arguing and energy drinks, we selected some of the following accessories to be well-suited to the “Well-Dressed” Loser. Enjoy

Good Looking Watches
ROLEX (GENUINE)

Rolex- Need I say more? These are the nicest watches on earth. They are certainy an investment. If you can’t afford a Rolex yet- there are other affordable options that look almost as nice as a Rolex. Here is start for finding nearly flawless replica watches.
INVICTA (BEAUTIFUL ROLEX-INSPIRED WATCHES)
Even from close-up, some people think these are Rolex watches.
Those who don’t still assume they cost $1000′s because they look like they do.
- Pro Diver Two-Tone Automatic Invicta watch. This is a hot, affordable, classy, Rolex-inspired watch that won’t go out of style. The pop of blue gives an interesting touch, as well as the two-tone band. But the colors are neutral enough that you can wear it pretty much anything.

Invicta Speedway Collection watch. This two-toned watch is even more neutral than the previous Invicta. This is a dressy watch that can be worn with dressy and casual/dressy outfits. You can wear this with any color and it will enhance the overall look.
ISSEY MIYAKE (GENUINE)

Issey Miyake watch. This is another hot watch. The all silver makes it super versatile. You can wear it with anything and it looks fashion-forward and chic (girls like chic guys). This is also a timeless watch- meaning it’s not over-stylized and it won’t go out of fashion.
Examples of Bad Looking Watches

Skull and crossbones watch. This is just ugly and looks cheap. The skull and crossbones are out of style it looks immature. Cartoons are for children.
Good Looking Necklaces
DOG TAGS

Titanium dog tags. Dog tags are great because they are very versatile, stylish and enhance to any outfit. Start with a basic silver and build around it (silver and black dog tags look good together). Steer clear of cheap versions because they look cheap and cheesy and that can take away from your outfit. The nicer ones will be a little heavier than the cheap plastic ones.

Black tungsten carbide dog tag with a diamond and a 22″ steel curb link chain. This is high quality and would look great with the basic silver dog tag. You don’t want to get dog tags that are over-styled and goth looking with too much going on. It is better to wear nice basic ones- so they add to your outfit, not take away from it. This one has a small diamond detail, which is just enough and makes it unique but not gaudy.
CROSS NECKLACES

Simple, sleek silver cross. Again you want a high quality cross. It will be heavier than cheaper versions. Since this cross is simple you can wear it with other pieces like the dog tags. There are a lot of Gothic or rocker crosses out there that are out of style.
STAND-OUT PIECES

Stainless steel capsule necklaces. This style is cool, new and affordable. It isn’t too much but different enough to add interest to your outfit. You can wear it with other pieces like the dog tags or cross. Only wear one of them at a time. I like the black and silver and it will go with anything. But the two-tone gold and silver is super cool and gives that pop of color. You can wear them even if you don’t use cocaine.

D&G bullet necklace. This necklace is cool and different. D&G makes high quality products that will hold up. But, you don’t want everything to say D&G across it. This necklace is okay in that regard because the logo is subtle. The two-tone is hot. This will go great with other pieces as well.
Examples of Bad Looking Necklaces

Gothic Cross. This Gothic style is morbid looking and out-of-date. It is trying to be a “hard” look but it just looks depressing and out of style.

Two-tone dog tags. These dog tags speak
for themselves. Not only is the design
out-of-date, the tags misshaped, too small and the chain looks cheap. Might work for an 4th graders Halloween costume though.
Good Looking Hats
BASEBALL HATS

Simple, fashionable black baseball hat with a cool design. Baseball hats are flattering on all guys. They hide hair problems and big foreheads. Since they almost cover your eyes they add some mystery, and girls like a little mystery in their men (at the beginning). Wearing a hat with a suit gives the illusion that you are cool and a rule breaker (and girls love a bad boy, just not a jerk). Hats are also great to throw on when you don’t have time to do your hair. So keep at least one or two in your closet.

New Era Yankees flat-brim baseball hat.Baseball hats also make you look athletic, which makes you seem good and dominant in bed. You should have at least one neutral colored hat (black, white, gray, navy) because they will go with basically any colored outfit.
Beanies

Oversized beanie. Beanies can look hot. They give some edge to an outfit. It is better to go with neutral colored beanies because they look more sleek and go a wider variety of outfits.
Example of Bad Looking Hats
Good Looking Sunglasses

Ray-Ban metal frame aviator sunglasses. Sunglasses can definitely enhance your look. But they can take away from your look if they are out-of-date. These Ray-Bans are high quality, so they will hold-up for a long time. The silver/gray frames will go with anything and aviator sunglasses are in style.

Ray-Ban Wayfarer. This style is very trendy. It’s okay to get the super trendy sunglasses, just don’t wear them after the trend is well-over. Ray-Ban is a good brand because they are designed to actually protect your eyes, unlike all of the cheap look-a-like versions. Chris will tell you he prefers the other because they are more masculine. I agree.

Good Looking Wrist Bands/Bracelets

Thin silver and black bracelet. This is a pretty simple bracelet that you can wear with a wide variety of outfits. The colors go with anything and it is a classy, chic design. The super chunky wrist-bands and bracelets are out of style. Stacking a few thinner bracelets is more current.

Thin black stainless steel bracelet. This is a simple black bracelet with a cool gold detail. This is a great bracelet to layer with other bracelets because it is simple and sleek.

The Lords Prayer black bracelet. This bracelet has meaning, which makes it interesting and it looks cool. You can also layer this bracelet with other bracelets.

Stainless steel double-layered bracelet. This is a chunkier, edgy bracelet. It will add edge to your look. Put it with a white v-neck, long necklace and black leather jacket. Don’t go with the cheapest versions of these bracelets because they will look cheap. Go with the heavier higher quality versions.

Black leather wristband. This is another good example of a great piece to layer with. But it’s interesting enough that you can also wear it on its own.
Example of Bad Looking Wrist Bands

Unless you have a “rocker” or “punk” look going, these cuffs are simply not your best options as of 2013. A brown cuff never was.
Good Looking Rings
- If you don’t know your ring size and don’t want to guess or go to a store to check, looky here-

Matte black stainless steel, silver etched ring. This ring is cool and different. The design is masculine and unique, but subtle enough to go with many other pieces. This ring is super affordable but looks like it costs a lot more than it does. This was one of the first things I noticed when I met Chris.

Tungsten carbide ring with black and red carbon fiber inlay. This ring also has an interesting design with the pop of red. But the red is subtle and can be worn with other colors. This is a high quality ring that will last for a long time.

Tungsten carbide silver ring. This is a cool, nice, masculine ring that you can wear all the time. It is interesting and classy. It is also high quality so it will hold-up after a lot of wear. You don’t have be married to wear it. :-)

Tungsten carbide ring with a black stripe. This ring is simple and sleek. It is another great example of a high quality, affordable ring that you can wear all the time.
There are a lot of good rings on Amazon.com actually and they generally MUCH LESS expensive than buying them in person.
You might give some thought to the ‘customer reviews’ but you can always post a link to the ring in theGet Style forum if you want feedback.
Examples of Bad Rings

Stay current with fashion. This style way very big for a while (about 10 years ago). It’s not in anymore and if you wear it, it makes you look like you’re out-of-date, not cool and therefore past your prime.
Good Looking Scarves

Scarves add to and dress up any outfit. It’s an easy way to add a layer to your look. This scarf is a similar color to the jacket, just lighter, but it adds a lot to the overall look. It is also a very sleek and classy material. The scarf itself doesn’t have to be overly styled with loud patterns because they add a lot to an outfit even if they are plain colored. And don’t wear a scarf with too many brand logos all over it, it makes you look try-hard.

This line is absolutely wonderful and affordable, I (Taylor SM) have 3. This scarf will a lot to an outfit. It’s good quality and affordable. Since it does have the bold red you should pair it with neutral colors and have this be the standout color. It would look great with a black jacket, white V-neck or a black and white graphic Tee and some long necklaces.
Example of a Bad Looking Scarf

Surprisingly, this is a Guess? Scarf. Scarfs are generally supposed suave/sophisticated and not supposed be an “edgy” accessory, so if you see one that tries for “edgy,” chances are- it sucks.
Good Looking Belts
Belts aren’t actually completely necessary.
Most shirts generally cover the waist area and there is sometimes no need. If you do rock a belt, make sure it’s BLACK/SILVER. Again, NO BROWN. Grandpa. “Sissy” thin belts generally look non-masculine but at the same time big bulky belts with a “cowboyish” buckle are definitely past their time.

Guess cross belt. This is sleek and slightly edgy. Belts are a huge focus in fashion currently since shirts aren’t tucked in very often. So just keep them classy and simple. Go with silvers, grays and blacks for jeans and dress pants. You can wear a tan belts with shorts. Christopher was also wearing this went we met.

Silver Plaque Belt. This is another great example of a sleek silver and black belt that looks fashionable with jeans or dress pants. This is a simple belt that is great to have in your closet because it will go with a wide variety of pants and outfits.
