Oliver Stone - The Untold History of the United States

As some of you guys know, I'm somewhat of a history dork.

I don't know why... I just have no interest in fiction.

Zombies, superhero movies, cartoons, sitcoms, stuff like that - no thank you. Never been into it.

This is what I've been watching over the past month or so -

'The Untold History of the United States'

(fyi: affiliate link - I get about 12 cents/per episode if you purchase it - there's a book too, if you like reading)

In fact, these days, it's basically my one 'productive time-waster' or 'productive distraction'.
(nice for long cardio sessions in the gym and PE - if you are into that sort of thing)

If you are living by our principle of "Nothing in Moderation" (at least 75% of your open hours dedicated to ONE PRIMARY GOAL) - I suggest that you dedicate at least 1 hour a 'productive time-waster' that is simply a relaxing activity that loosens up your mind.

HAVE FUN is another name for it.
(Ideally, that activity doesn't involve drugs or alcohol)

This is the exact type of "productive relax time" that Tom Hopkins details in his book from 1982, "The Official Guide to Success," which is still, in my opinion - the best book ever written (AND MOST APPLICABLE) on time management and successful psychology.

The primary mantra in that book is -


But that doesn't mean you are always WORKING.

Sometimes, the most productive thing is simply to relax and clear your mind.

When your 'time-wasters' have a purpose and aren't just a default response to boredom - you'll rarely overdo them.

(until you have about a year of experience and know how to apply "smarter")

But I acknowledge the possibility of burnout - the usual prerequisite to quitting.


Quick Film Summary
(no spoilers)

Oliver Stone, who has the reputation for directing and producing INCREDIBLY VIOLENT movies (Natural Born Killers, for example), shifts gears quite a bit with "The Untold History of the United States". This movie seeks validity and stimulates thought far more than shock and awe.

Unlike most "history" movies, Stone doesn't seem to have a political agenda - Democrats are Good! Republicans are Bad! Capitalism Enslaves! Socialism is So Hot Right Now!

Oliver Stone, a Hollywood elite - in every sense of the word, isn't pushing the usual Marxist Utopian Fantasy that so many of his colleagues jerk off to.

He examines and criticizes every single administration starting with Franklin Roosevelt toward the end of World War II leading to Barack Obama and the War on Terror.

No far-fetched conspiracy theories, no ill will, not even an overload of opinion, just facts and a ton of footage from the archives.

If you are into footage from old classic movies and that sell the American Dream - you'll find it rather entertaining too.

I love me some obvious 1960's cold war propaganda bullshit that my parents fell for.
(my Dad definitely bought this example below - I probably would have too)

The movie begins with the theme, "What you didn't learn in your high school history class".

Nearly everything in this movie differed from what I learned in school in the 1990's.

Wait, it was the largely the Soviets that defeated Nazi Germany?

Wait, the United States staged a bombing of a US ship so we could start a war in Vietnam?

Wait, it's more likely that I'll be killed by a police officer than "the terrorists"?

News to me!
(somewhat - I've known a lot of this for a while now)

Unlike most 'TRUTH' projects, I didn't find this movie terribly depressing. I wouldn't be recommending it if I thought it would fuck your head up for a month - it does make you think though. Mostly about the past.

As we venture into more of the Red Pill "lifestyle" aspects on Good Looking Loser - I want to offer clear solutions and not just a bunch of depressing, non-applicable information that leaves you feeling smart and trapped. This film is largely for your entertainment however.

Regardless of whether you were born, raised and indoctrinated in a capitalist country or somehow getting Good Looking Loser in Pyongyang - the system is set up to make you a slave.

Still, though the barriers to social mobility are tall, Victor Pride and I still believe that an "American Dream" is still alive and well.

It's not traditional "The American Dream," with the mortgage, job and dog that cleans up it's own shit.

It's the "New American Dream".

I'm calling it the "New eAmerican Dream".
(I literally just thought of that term 2.28.2014 - if you see it elsewhere, you know where it came from)

    I can tell you that this Oliver Stone Movie does make you think on how those in power tend to rewrite history. Its a good movie as i have seen it before as well!

    no comment so far? ... seems like the lifestyle site doesn't generate that much traffic (or the average GLL user isn't so much interested in history. I suspect the latter)

    Either way, what came for me along with Pua and trying to understand social dynamics, was also to understand how much bs and lies politics is.
    The more i understand, the more i think of "the system".
    And you have to get real to understand the system (politics) as a couple of people execrting influence.
    So this documentation fits in nicely and is a must see.
    I haven't seen it so far though, have there also been discussion of how the US /the CIA made politics in south america from 1950 until lately? They initiated several civil wars down there to get "left" governments out of power.

    Anyways I am waiting until you upload some approaching videos at the gym and then I will try the same stuff. You also mentioned a "plan of attack to get a girlfriend" at the beginning of january and I have been waiting for more than 50 days to read it. It would be really cool if you still plan to write about that.

    Today is my 21st birthday and my life seems to have changed in the past 3 months since I started reading all this stuff. I am alone in my room at the moment :P but life is improving for me now and things went pretty well during the last weeks. The biggest thing I could achieve during the last weeks was when I gave a girl at my working place a massage and then kissed her. Nothing special but for someone that sometimes was scared to touch women its a good step in my opinion. I was inspired by your youtube pickup videos. The girl was a bit shocked that I did that but later I really saw that she enjoyed it and she wanted to hug me all the time...
