Scroll Down To See The Clothes

Thanks for dropping in to check out our 2013 Winter Style Guide.
The selections, images and commentary was put together by our resident fashion expert, Taylor.
She has a degree from the FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising). Perhaps more notably- she has 6 years of dressing MALE celebrities for Hollywood events, premiers and exclusive appearances. Just 2 years ago, her ability to pay rent rested on the feedback of fashion critics who little to pick apart celebrities. Superficial or not, there's a lot more to it than just dressing up.
I don't let women contribute to our style section (or even ask their opinion on anything) unless they "Get It," understand how EDGE contributes to masculine sex appeal and can offer perspective beyond simply dressing guys in polo shirts because it looks "nice".
I think her suggestions are quite good and add a good amount of edge without being "try hard".
Many of them are always quite #affordable.
Just so you know- some, but not all of the recommendations below contain affiliate links. We receive on average a 4-5% commission (AT NO EXPENSE TO YOU) if you make a purchase. This generally amounts to $1-5 per item. We recommend these selections to you because they will make any guy look better if he hasn't recently updated his wardrobe, not for the small commissions. Thank you if you purchase via our links, that is how this blog makes money since we don't sell anything of our own.

Good Looking Shirts
Although Winter is near (although for some of us Winter means 65 degrees), we are still fans of rocking short sleeve shirts. You can wear the shirt as is or easily add some layers by putting a fashionable vest or coat over it. In fact, that is definitely a look that you should consider.
You will see a lot of white. This is not a mistake. White stands out in the Winter (and at night), while everyone else is wearing 'depressing gray' or 'boring dark blue' - you can be the light of the world.
Keep this in mind as you look through our recommendations-

'Dress In Layers'

Assuming the clothing is cool, dressing in 2 or more layers will automatically put you among the best-dressed and most noticeable people in the entire room. You'll usually never be undressed, even if your clothing is on the casual side.
Most guys simply rock a single plain shirt that offers no contrast whatsoever. The look tends to look 'juvenile' and immature, especially if the shirt isn't cool. Attractive women, on the other hand, are almost always dressed in layers when they aren't in a single piece dress. Layering is key to having style, people should look at you and see a "style" and not just a "shirt".
You feel me?

Most Basic Layering Example

Even basic layering can add significant presence, since very few men do it. Even basic layering can add significant presence, since very few men do it.

Good Looking Edgy Graphic Tees
(Click Pictures to See Item, Price, Where to Find Them)

update 12/25 - some of these options are no longer for sale and we had to remove the link.
If you click on an item and it doesn't take you to where you can buy it - it's because it's no longer for sale. Thanks for your understanding.

Bullet Shirt Obviously the bullets give this shirt edge and masculinity. But the graphics as a whole are interesting and give the shirt depth. The V-neck is nice too. Keep the jeans clean like dark blue straight-leg. The white jeans shown here is a little much, verging on try-hard. #Affordable

Cross Tee Black and white is on trend for this fall and winter. This is slightly edgy because it is a big in-your-face black cross. But it is still a clean, fashionable look. The gray jeans are great to pair this shirt with. You could add a leather jacket if you want more edge. #Affordable

Girl Verges on 'clubby' but the black and white is in style and there is a softness among the geometric, a-symmetric shapes that gives it interest and beauty, which will intrigue girls. The soft yellow is a perfect hint of color too. Just don't overdo the accessories with this one. And pair it with clean dark blue or gray jeans (no tattered jeans). #Affordable

Colorful This shirt is colorful and different. It's bright but it has a fossil on it. And you you wouldn't be able to see the fossil until your close up, which is kind of cool. This shirt would look good under a black jacket. #Affordable

Good Looking Well-Dressed Tees
(Click Pictures to See Item, Price, Where to Find Them)
If you aren't into the edgy/slightly more edgy than Mr. Normal Guy look- you can go with the 'Well-Dressed' style and still look good.
It helps to be good looking and naturally masculine if you want to roll with this style because there's less presence or swag factor with this style as compared to edgier selections above.
Interestingly enough, we actually suggest this style to guys that-

  • Are tall and good looking.
  • Have edge, tattoos or a natural masculine/sexual aura to them.
  • Or both.
(guys with a lot of tattoos that rock an edgy style, tend to overdo it)

White TeeA basic white V-neck tee is a necessity. This is a slim-fit, soft fabrication style. They are great for layering with a vest and/or jacket in the winter. Or they make a clean look alone with these dark jeans, just add a simple necklace.

Forever Cool without being too cluby. The clean lines through "Take It Easy" give it some structure. This is super cheap but if you pair it with nice jeans it looks more expensive than it is. #Affordable

Tavik T Isn't overly loud but still interesting and different. The hint of color overlaying the black and white background is a nice, easy contrast. The black and white background gives a vulnerable, gritty, real vibe. While the color and the sun gives the scene some joy. The black version of the shirt is tight too.

LA shirt This is an affordable, cheerful shirt that would look great under a black or gray jacket so it only partially shows and peeks interest. It has great color to it and is inviting. #Affordable

pink Bright and clean. Girls like pink and purple. Pair it with gray or dark jeans. Also super, super cheap. #SuperAffordable

Good Looking Long Sleeve Shirts
These options tend to follow the "Well-Dressed" or Basic Guy style, but adding accessories can give it significant edge.

Blue GUESS This is a clean, well-dressed shirt with a slight shine finish, which is in style. The fresh blue looks great on most skin tones. Wear with necklaces and diamond earrings.

Long-sleeve Tee Multiple Colors. Basic long-sleeve shirt. Great for layering. It also looks good alone, especially if you are built or toned. #Affordable
G BeytonStriking red plaid shirt. Looks great with dark jeans and a nice belt. That other options are pretty good too.

Good Looking Vests

Black Vest Cool, eye-catching vest. Wear it over a white V-neck T-shirt with some necklaces.

Guess Vest Simple, sleek vest that adds to many looks. However, we don't recommend it over this plaid shirt. Go with a plan color button-down or long-sleeved V-neck. Available in white too.

Affordable Vest Dressy vest. Great for layering. #Affordable

Good Looking Jackets and Coats

Affordable leather Edgy, Donner PU leather motorcycle jacket. This jacket will stand out without being too much. Pair it with clean dark or gray jeans. #Affordable
Andrew Marc Jacket The Andrew Marc lambskin leather jacket has edge because it is black leather. Leather is very hot this winter. This jacket also has clean lines and isn't too bulky so it works on most body types. This is a nice jacket that will come back in style for a long time to come, so you can keep it forever.

GUESS Jacket New, interesting jacket but not over the top. Has a cool look and will go with most casual outfits. We pretty the light gray to the black. Light gray jackets are sexy.

Pea coat This gray stand-collar wind coat is quite stylish and perfect if it's cold in your city. The stand-collar has a slimming effect and helps make your jaw line look a little sharper. Gray is in this winter. This coat looks great with a scarf for a layering effect. #Affordable

Sweatshirt Multiple Colors. You obviously aren't going to wear vests and nice shirts everyday. So it's good to have a nice hoodie for the run-around days. This one is good quality and looks good on. Plus it has a zipper, which is nice because you can get it on and off a lot easier than a pull-over.

Brilliant article Chris, really appreciate it! Send my thanks to the rest of the team who also worked hard for this article. I have been waiting for this all week, checking on GLL whenever to see if it was up yet. Very glad to see it was today. Your site is a gold mine.

A lot of good advice here. I been meaning to get a good leather jacket but they are quite expensive, however they give an awesome edge if it fits well with the body and is slim fit, bringing out the build and musculature you work at from the gym stuff.

Also I feel, and also been told, that chains/dog tags and possibly rings wont suit me as I have quite a young looking face (yet a deep voice). I also don't have much facial hair and i know having a 5 oclock shadow would add to my masculinity (although my father and other male members of my family have it easily). When I do grow stubble (which is a slow process in itself, and usually soft) it seems to be uneven so i don't bother with it and keep it all clean shaven. Im 19 by the way. I know it isn't worth worrying much about but anything you know of that could help?

If not, not to worry. You have been enough help as it is with this website. So much quality information.

Cheers

Yup i been going gym hard and properly for a year and a bit now. Made huge progress, focused mainly on compounds, built a stature and have been getting a lot of compliments from girls/women as well as friends and family so that is all in check. I eat a lot of fatty fish, couple whole eggs every morning, beef chicken is all in check too, and many nuts before bed. All this i been doing for a long time hehe.

And yeah i saw that article a few days ago, brilliant stuff again chris.

I guess its just a matter of waiting, we all develop differently eh? Haha, cheers for the reply.

P.S. I did research this a couple months ago, i think its linked to the amount of Dihydrotestosterone in you or something like that. Not entirely sure.

Thanks for yet another impressive and informative article Chris. I always want to be in style and this was an anticipated article.

I like to wear jackets and hoodies although my country is hot (we don't have winter). My facial hair goes along well with those black leather jackets. Sometimes I prefer wearing camel-like coloured jackets because it's luxurious to look at. The motor cycle jacket you have here is really stylish. Now I'm going to save money for it - an addition to my collection of jackets.

Anyway, there's a wedding that I'm going to attend to and I was wondering if the glossy-look blue long sleeves do the trick? It looks savvy, nice and simple. I'll pair it with black pants and glossy black shoes along with a simple silver necklace. What do you think?
